World of Warcraft (WoW), one of the most iconic MMORPGs, is all set for an exciting 2025. After the success of The War Within expansion in 2024, players can look forward to new content, updates, and the reveal of the next chapter in Azeroth's saga.

However, kicking off the year is the return of the fan-favourite Plunderstorm event on January 14. This pirate-themed battle royale mode brings new abilities, cosmetics, and exciting rewards. It’s a fun way to dive back into Azeroth’s ever-evolving world.

World of Warcraft major updates and next expansion

Notably, spring will see the launch of The War Within's first major patch, Undermined (Patch 11.1). Players will finally explore Undermine, the Goblin Trade Empire’s capital, and align with one of four goblin cartels.

Alongside the new zone, expect a raid, dungeon, seasonal updates, and the customisable D.R.I.V.E. mount, making city exploration thrilling and unique.

Moreover, summer brings Patch 11.2, featuring another new zone, dungeon, raid, and open-world events as Season 3 begins. Players can also look forward to smaller updates like the return of Horrific Visions, the Turbulent Timeways, and special events, including WoW's 21st anniversary in the fall.

The year will culminate with the reveal of World of Warcraft: Midnight, the next expansion in the Worldsoul Saga. Set to launch in winter, its standout feature is the long-awaited Player Housing, offering players new customisation opportunities.
