Xbox Live, the popular online gaming service of Microsoft's Xbox console, recently experienced a widespread outage on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, preventing millions of gamers from getting the access of all the online multiplayer games, streaming services, or purchase games from the Xbox Store.

The outage approximately lasted for six hours as it began around 1:00 PM EDT. However, some users reported issues as late as 7:30 PM EDT. During this time, users who were attempting to access the Xbox Live were unable to sign in to their accounts and received error messages.

Microsoft immediately acknowledged the issue on and tweeted that, "We're aware of reports of Xbox Live being down. Our team is working hard to get everything back up and running. Thank you for your patience."

Some of the frustrated gamers took this issue to social media to express their disappointment and frustration, while others joked about the time right before the July 4th holiday in the United States.

It was not immediately clear how the outage occurred eventually, though the tech giant later confirmed it happened due to"network infrastructure issue" that struck its cloud gaming services.

Even in the midst of all this chaos, Microsoft's Xbox Support kept people updated as to what was happening with this outage through frequent tweets and a status update page for Xbox Live.

By about 7:00 PM EDT, Xbox Live services were back on, with people reporting successful logins and access to online gaming and streaming services.
