YouTube Premium Lite, a reduced version, is being tested to expand in selective countries with a price that is approximately half off.

YouTube Premium Lite

Unlike YouTube’s standard Premium plan which includes YouTube Music, offline downloads, and background play, YouTube “Premium Lite” is a paid monthly subscription that removes ads on YouTube only.

Earlier, in 2023, Google removed the YouTube Lite plan subscription in most countries after piloting it for two years. However, it was not completely dead as the company revealed at that time its plans to continue testing it in some regions.

Google confirms Premium Lite plan

Recently, citing sources, Android Authority confirmed that Google is testing the YouTube Premium Lite plan in countries, including Australia, Germany, and Thailand.

Moreover, many users also reported this new version. Similarly, taking to Threads, an Australian singer and songwriter Jonah Manzano shared a screenshot of the Premium Lite plan.

In Australia, “Premium Lite” is priced at $11.99/month which is half the cost of the $22.99/month standard Premium plan. However, users in Germany also noticed that the Premium Lite option was available for €5.99/month.

It is unclear if Google has any plans to expand this Premium Lite version in the future or not.
