YouTube Premium has just received a price increase in India. With this upgrade, all subscription plans involving individuals, family and students, are currently noticeably more expensive.
However, it’s still unclear whether the ad-free paid subscription service offered by the Google-owned platform will provide a grace period for existing subscribers before they must pay the new monthly subscription.
It is to be noted that with YouTube Premium, subscribers are set to receive advantages like ad-free streaming of videos, the capability of watching videos or listening to music in the background while doing another task, picture-in-picture (PiP) mode, and improved high-definition (HD) video streaming.
YouTube Premium price increase in India
The increase in YouTube Premium prices impacted both prepaid and recurring subscription plans. The recurring Individual plan, which allows users to stream YouTube content for a single user, is now available at INR 149 per month as its previous price of INR 129 per month.
On the other hand, users selected for the Family plan will now need to spend INR 299 per month. This plan offers up to five users access to YouTube Premium, earlier available at INR 189.

Meanwhile, YouTube Premium’s Student plan remains the cheapest way to watch ad-free videos. Moreover, it has received a minor price change from INR 79 to INR 89 per month.
It’s noteworthy that prepaid YouTube Premium subscriptions do not automatically renew. Gadinsider has compiled the YouTube Premium plans and their revised prices.

New users can choose a one-month trial of an Individual, Family or Student YouTube Premium plan to experience all its benefits before enrolling in the streaming service.
