YouTube’s redesigned playback speed feature is now available, offering users greater control over video playback. This update follows October's announcement of multiple feature enhancements.

YouTube's blog post hinted at the "fine-tunable playback speed" feature among two dozen updates across web, mobile, TV, and YouTube Music platforms.

Redesigned playback speed feature on YouTube

According to 9to5Google, the video-streaming platform has begun rolling out a redesigned version of the playback speed feature. Instead of a long list of preset speeds, users now have a compact slider at the bottom of the screen.

On the updated version, if users go to Settings > Playback Speed, a rectangular pop-up box appears at the bottom of the screen. The pop-up box displays five preset speed options (0.25, 1.0, 1.25, 1.5, and 2.0) and an adjustable slider.

The feature allows users to fine-tune playback speeds in 0.5 increments. The selected speed is shown above the slider, and adjustments can be made by dragging the slider or by tapping the plus and minus buttons on either side of the slider.

Earlier, YouTube had limited users to use specific preset options. However, the feature is available on YouTube version 19.43 for Android and 19.44 for iOS.
