YouTube testing on-screen overlays to hide Skip button for skippable ads

Anyone who's fond of feasting eyes with content that does not take a toll on your pocket, YouTube is the go-to platform whether it's entertainment, sports, movies, songs or anything else that appeals to you.

But the only sinister aspect which distorts the watching experience of this platform is the appearance of ads while watching videos, something which over the past few years has become unavoidable.

With Google's latest push to take unskippable ads down our throats, YouTube is reportedly going to bid farewell to the Skip button users currently have to do away with annoying endorsements. 

Android Police reported that the streaming platform embarked on this new venture to make freeloaders pay for not willing to pay for YouTube Premium.

This approach of the Google-owned platform compels the biggest portion of its user base to unwillingly watch ads which is a prerequisite to free stream.

YouTube this extent of manoeuvering has stirred frustration among users, prompting meticulous developers to build adblockers and extensions that evade or get around YouTube's unskippable ads, which subsequently triggers the company to take more drastic measures.

YouTube's recent attempts to impede ad blocking involved the injection of ads directly into the video stream.

Citing a Redditor, the publication claimed that small black rectangle overlays are being tested on YouTube that hide the Skip button, making the ad unskippable.
