Sony Xperia 5 Summary
Released in 2019, Sony Xperia 5 is a flagship device for camera enthusiasts. The phone’s build quality is a quite sturdy, having a glass front and back (Gorilla Glass 6) and an aluminium frame. The phone also comes with IP65/IP68 dust/water resistance rating. And due to a compact design, the phone only weighs 164g. The 6.1 inches display has OLED technology installed, which can output 1080 x 2520 pixels of resolution.
The OS running on the device is Android 9, which is upgradeable to Android 11. Xperia 5 is powered by Snapdragon 855 chipset, an octa-core processor capable of max 2.84GHz frequency, and is paired with Adreno 640 GPU. RAM and storage options are limited as the phone only offers a single 6GB, 128GB variant. Thankfully, a shared micro SD card slot is available for storage expansion.
Xperia 5’s main attraction, the rear camera, houses a triple camera setup, having a 12MP wide-angle lens (predictive dual-pixel PDAF and 5-axis OIS), another 12MP telephoto lens (predictive PDAF and 2x optical zoom), and another 12MP ultrawide lens. These cameras are complemented by LED flash, HDR, and eye tracking software. Videos from the rear camera can be shot at 4K, 24/30fps, 1080p, 60fps, and 1080p 30fps with 5-axis gyro-EIS enabled. The front camera, on the other hand, houses only a single 8MP lens with HDR and 1080p, 30fps 5-axis gyro-EIS enabled video recording capabilities.
One of the weak points of Xperia 5 is its battery, which is meek Li-Ion, non-removable 3,140mAh power source that supports 18W rapid charging via USB Type-C cable. The phone also comes with the following additional features: fingerprint scanner (side-mounted), accelerometer, gyro sensor, proximity sensor, barometer, compass, and color spectrum.
Sony Xperia 5 is offered in Blue, Red, Black, and Grey colours.
